    Taught by leading industry professionals using PXO’s proprietary techniques, this course includes a series focused on virtual art department roles:

    1. Core Techniques in Visualization

    2. Virtual Production Content Creation

    3. Unreal Performance Optimization

  • Core Techniques in Visualization (PXO 151):

    • Introduction to Unreal Engine for creating virtual environments.

    • Concept design and digital visualization techniques for virtual production.

    • Learn photogrammetry and UE’s sequencer.

    • Gain practical experience in crafting immersive, interactive digital environments.

    Virtual Production Content Creation (PXO 152):

    • Expand you knowledge of Digital Matte Painting and 2D/3D environment integration.

    • Learn Unreal Engine's Blueprints for immersive interactions and LED wall optimization.

    • Gain a deep understanding of virtual cameras, on-set protocols, and motion capture technology.

    • End-to-end content creation for virtual production pipelines.

    Unreal Performance Optimization (PXO 153):

    • Advanced Unreal Engine skills for performance tuning and optimization in virtual production.

    • Comprehensive understanding of profiling tools, performance metrics, and troubleshooting techniques.

    • Duration: 12 weeks.

  • The PXO x Sony PCL x Vook On-Demand Program offers a flexible, comprehensive learning experience in Japanese. It is tailored for aspiring professionals in virtual production. Developed in collaboration with industry leaders, the program is structured into a five-coure series:

    1. Visual Foundations

    2. VP World Building

    3. VP Detailing and Optimization Techniques

    4. Preparing for Stage Delivery

    5. Environment Creation

    Through hands-on projects and assignments, students gain practical experience with industry-standard tools like Unreal Engine and Quixel Megascans. Professionals from Sony PCL give assignments and feedback. This self-paced program ensures accessibility for Japanese-speaking global participants while delivering high-quality training aligned with Hollywood and international filmmaking practices.

    • Proficiency in Unreal Engine workflows, including modeling, lighting, and Blueprints.

    • Environment creation using landscape tools, procedural scattering, and foliage techniques.

    • Application of virtual production techniques such as photogrammetry, digital matte painting, and post-production fixes.

    • Optimization of assets and scenes for performance and visual quality.

    • Practical experience in preparing environments for LED stages and virtual production pipelines.

GABRIEL PAIVA

Unreal Engine Instructor

Gabriel Paiva is a highly experienced 3D generalist and a UE Fellowship Instructor and Mentor with over 20 years in the industry. He’s an Unreal Authorized Instructor who has mentored production teams worldwide in integrating Unreal Engine into their workflows. Since 2023, Gabriel joined the PXO team to teach Virtual Art Department (VAD) courses, where he combined his deep technical expertise with hands-on instruction to prepare students for careers in virtual production.

JOE RAASCH

Head of Training

Joe Raasch is a highly experienced visual effects artist and educator with over 20 years of experience in 2D and 3D workflows. He has developed several tutorials on compositing, rendering, and effects and has trained artists at major VFX studios. He also holds the position of VFX Program Coordinator at Seneca Polytechnic. Since 2022, he has been Head of Training at PXO, where he continues to shape the future of training and education within and outside the company.

The Virtual Production Academy collaborates with Vancouver Film School (VFS) to deliver a 12-week certificate program in virtual production and real-time content creation. The program offers immersive, hands-on training in industry-standard workflows, equipping students with the practical skills needed to excel in today’s evolving media landscape.
